I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember! My approach to spinning and weaving has been no exception to that rule.
The popularity of the spindles as products has been really surprising and wonderful. And it’s been quite a journey learning how to navigate a thriving online business (albeit on a small scale). Recently spindle sales have moved to in-person Fiber Festivals, and seen equal success! It’s been hard to keep my bearings with all these changes.
I’ve decided to move my online presence, especially on social media, away from craft and tutorial bases, and back into art spaces.
Not a lot is changing outwardly, I will still be sharing in similar capacities and similar ways, and none of the current tutorials are going anywhere!
However! Giving precedence to the creative outlet side of things is helping me reframe my outlook and even helping me feel at home in this endeavor. I have been dealing with some imposter syndrome, which is normal. Bringing it back to art makes me feel a lot less like a fish out of water!

I truly love this whole experience, but admin duties will always be rather excruciating – and letting the creativity and artist projects take center stage in my brain instead of focusing all my business identity on a to-do list – is giving me back my joy!
For you, my dear friends and readers, that means the output is going to be more visual and more about process than products. Which I know I will enjoy more!
I also have a few weaving projects I am excited about. One is spring themed and I feel rather frantic about getting it done before summer!
And the other is something that feels like it could further define my niche as an artist, on a larger longer term scale.

I’ve also applied to some exciting things recently! So hopefully I’ll have some very fun news to share with you! .
The photos are from a post series I am calling “Studio Archive” and this is Week 1.
What keeps fiber arts fresh and exciting for me is texture and the layering of wood, wool, and natural elements. Visual texture, physical texture, even the sounds are warm and rich. And that is what I am hoping my social media presence brings to people!
Happy spinning! 💕
